ANTARCTICA – Through the Lens. Nov 16

We are very excited about our upcoming show. Rob Kline, award winning RHCC photographer, and myself, Ron Goodlin (Past president RHCC and GTCCC Judge – I have spoken to many of your clubs about my adventures with polar bears and grizzly bears in the past….) will be presenting a 90 minute show about our recent adventures in Antarctica.

We will also be having a print gallery before the show.
Exciting news, we have procured several items for a live auction with the culmination of a donation for: a Cruise for 2 people to Antarctica through Swoop, to be auctioned off at the end of the show with no minimum bid…this is a $17,000 value and it could be your chance to get to antarctica at a fraction of the cost!
All proceeds from auction, print, books and ticket sales will go to World Wildlife Fund Canada and Oceanites research, Rob and I are not making a penny from this endeavour, as it is our way to give back to a worthy cause and help stop the effects of climate change…..
We are therefore asking for your support, with the blessings of the GTCCC, to please add this attached pdf to your club presentations,
so as to please announce this to your membership AT EVERY UPCOMING MEETING until the November 16 date.
this is a worthy cause and we promise a very exciting and entertaining evening of images, videos and stories about our almost 1 month excursion to Antarctica this past January.
and in addition give them the email address for information….
Thank you for your help with this project and we look forward to seeing you there!
PS….(even if you can’t make it, you can help the cause by buying a ticket online as a form of a donation for Oceanites Penguin research and WWF Canada)

There is no cost for non-members.

Wild Ontario: A look at Rob’s photo adventures throughout Ontario – from Polar Bear Provincial Park to 1000 Islands – lots of funny stories and the people he has encountered.

2.8 and Beyond: Rob looks at his life as a professional photographer – the places, the images, the people, the landscapes that have all helped to shape his life. From penguins to moose and Force 11 storms in the Drake Passage, the material that goes along with the “job”.

Latow Photo Weekend 2017

You probably know of Latow’s long-running Seminar (for almost 4 decades!), and some of your club’s members already have tickets for this year’s events. I’m sending you this detail on our 2017 Photography Weekend, and suggesting you share it with all your members so they know about this exciting opportunity.

Our visiting pro this year is renowned photographer Denise Ippolito, winner of major nature photography awards and widely esteemed as a teacher. Her theme for the seminar on Saturday, 8 April is “A CREATIVE ADVENTURE” — BLENDING NATURE AND ART, while on Sunday, 9 April, she will present two short, focused practical sessions to complement Saturday’s offering (more details on our website).
To round out the weekend, Saturday evening features our annual AV Festival, with programs from Ireland, Germany, UK, USA and Canada — a treat for all fans of the visual arts (detail below).

Denise travels extensively, but she does not get to our part of the world very often. So please share this information with your members — by email, newsletter, blog, even word of mouth :). They’ll want to know about this special opportunity.

Greenbelt Photo Contest

It’s a great opportunity for photographers to potentially have their work judged by the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) and exhibited at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and beyond. There is no fee for entry.

The contest’s aim is to celebrate water resources in Ontario’s Greenbelt and connecting Urban River Valleys – a nice excuse for an outing for your club. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. Good luck to any of your members who enter!
