You probably know of Latow’s long-running Seminar (for almost 4 decades!), and some of your club’s members already have tickets for this year’s events. I’m sending you this detail on our 2017 Photography Weekend, and suggesting you share it with all your members so they know about this exciting opportunity.
Our visiting pro this year is renowned photographer Denise Ippolito, winner of major nature photography awards and widely esteemed as a teacher. Her theme for the seminar on Saturday, 8 April is “A CREATIVE ADVENTURE” — BLENDING NATURE AND ART, while on Sunday, 9 April, she will present two short, focused practical sessions to complement Saturday’s offering (more details on our website).
To round out the weekend, Saturday evening features our annual AV Festival, with programs from Ireland, Germany, UK, USA and Canada — a treat for all fans of the visual arts (detail below).
Denise travels extensively, but she does not get to our part of the world very often. So please share this information with your members — by email, newsletter, blog, even word of mouth :). They’ll want to know about this special opportunity.

Lightroom Workshops with Leif Petersen
This winter I’ll be offering 2 sets of Lightroom workshops in my new home ‘studio’. To ensure that you get a firm grasp on both the cataloguing and image development benefits of Lightroom, I split each set into 2 separate 6.25 hour workshops:
- Lightroom 1: The Library Module …. Getting Organized
- Lightroom 2: The Develop Module
For full details, please follow this link to the ‘Workshop’ page on my web site: http://leifpetersen.ca/workshops/lightroom/ or contact me directly:

It’s a great opportunity for photographers to potentially have their work judged by the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) and exhibited at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and beyond. There is no fee for entry.
The contest’s aim is to celebrate water resources in Ontario’s Greenbelt and connecting Urban River Valleys – a nice excuse for an outing for your club. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. Good luck to any of your members who enter!

The Gales of November Come Early 2016 Workshop
Presented by Glenn Springer, TIF, HHCC, GTCCC
in conjunction with
Naturally Superior Adventures/Rock Island Lodge, Wawa Ontario
What is this workshop about?
“The Gales of November” is a phrase made famous by Gordon Lightfoot in his classic ballad, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”. In the song, he says, “The Gales of November Come Early”… he meant early in November but allowing for artistic license, October is early, right?
Link to the Lightfoot ballad. Opens in a new window. Listen while you browse this page!
This is an opportunity for a dozen or so people – like-minded in their fascination with the Canadian wilderness and their desire to capture this splendour photographically – to visit and shoot at some outstanding photo venues on the shores of Lake Superior and the surrounding area.
The goal is to point you in some new directions or reinforce the skills and experience you already have. It’s about mindset and vision. We’ll do some seminars on specific topics but this is really about getting out and making the most of this outstanding Canadian wilderness amongst a dozen of your peers. Ideas abound. Sharing and critiquing and cooperating are the watchwords of the day.
Your direct experience in the workshop starts with your arrival on Thursday afternoon and ends mid-day on Sunday. But many participants use some time before and/or after the weekend to explore adjacent areas: perhaps the Agawa Canyon Tour by rail, or the North channel of Lake Huron, or the rugged wilderness of Northern Ontario.
There are still a couple opening. Register now http://www.photography.to/gales/
